Meet Kate!


Kate Eloranta

Program Specialist

Where are you from, and how did you end up at the U of M?

I am from Owen, WI. I fell in love with the campus on my first visit, completed my undergraduate degree at the U of M, and haven't left since!

Tell us about your schooling!

I studied Linguistics, Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences, and Teaching English as a Second Language (as part of an individualized degree). I also have a minor in Finnish Studies!

What's your favorite part of working at CAPE?

I love the staff, and working with exploring students. It is so fun to be a part of creating a vision of the future for students.

How would you define your role at CAPE, in your own words?

I manage the office, supervise student employees, and coordinate programming for CAPE.

What's something that makes you unique, or that most people might not know about you?

I speak Finnish(ish), and I love biking the Twin Cities.

What is your favorite type of cereal, and why?

I don't eat cereal - I am a sucker for baked sweets with my coffee in the morning...

What's your favorite thing to do on a day off?

Bike, walk, or crafty projects.
